Full job description

Owns the master calendar, the volunteer pipeline, budget discipline, and nonpartisan compliance review of every asset before it ships.

Responsibilities

  • Run the master calendar and weekly stand-ups
  • Review every public asset for nonpartisan compliance
  • Report directly to Dr. Hubbard

Hiring process

  • 01Hold your seat — $1
  • 02Interview task
  • 035-minute phone screen
  • 04Group interview on Google Meet

The $1 seat fee plus tax is refunded once your interview task is complete. Everyone who holds a seat is interviewed; an offer is not guaranteed. Equal opportunity employer.

How the cohort works

Four levels: seat, task, phone, Meet. Then onboarding the same week.

The Detroit 500 is one pipeline feeding three organizations. Hold your seat for a refundable $1 plus tax, complete the interview task, take a five-minute phone screen, then meet us live on Google Meet.

Phone screen line

313-607-7589

Five minutes, virtual, scheduled the day your task is reviewed.

Group interview

Google Meet · Sundays 19:00 ET

Rolling seats each week until all 500 are filled.

01

Hold your seat — $1

A one-dollar refundable fee plus tax confirms you are real and reserves one of the 500 seats. Refunded after you complete your interview task, whether or not you get an offer.

02

Interview task

Profile picture, LinkedIn link, a 60-second speech, and one of five questions. Reviewed on a rolling basis the day it lands — no résumé, no waiting for a cycle.

03

5-minute phone screen

A short virtual phone interview at 313-607-7589. Five minutes, three questions, a real human. You will know your next step before you hang up.

04

Group interview on Google Meet

A live virtual group session — collaborate, build, and show care for students. Orientation and onboarding follow immediately for anyone who receives an offer.

The $1 seat fee plus applicable tax is refunded once your interview task is complete. It exists only to keep the 500 seats real. It is not a purchase of employment, it buys no advantage in review, and no other payment is ever requested from an applicant.

500

Seats in the cohort

The environment is built for 500 applicants moving at once.

$1

Refundable + tax

Refunded when your interview task is complete. No other cost, ever.

100%

Interview guaranteed

Everyone who holds a seat is interviewed. An offer is not guaranteed.

Answer either way

1 · Profile picture + LinkedIn link

Your photo stays in your browser for the preview — attach the same file to the email draft at the end. The mirror on the right shows exactly what the hiring committee sees.

2 · Parameters that show fitness

Check each one your profile already meets. Five of seven is the bar — the checklist is a self-audit, not a test.

Answering

Level 1 · EntryThe Introduction

60-second speech: not linked yet

Nothing on this page is sent anywhere until you press the button below. The preview is built in your browser.

Instead of a résumé: one unedited minute, phone camera is fine. Say your name, why DPSCD, and what you will ship in your first week.

Still needed: profile picture · your name · a valid LinkedIn link · 5 more fitness parameter(s) · your 60-second speech link

3 · Answer one of five questions

Pick the one you can answer best. Which question you choose tells us as much as the answer: they run from the most straightforward to the most complex, and every level is a real seat on this campaign.

The rules of this process

  • Equal opportunity: we consider every applicant without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, height, weight, or veteran status — consistent with Title VII, the ADA, the ADEA, and the Michigan Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act and Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act.
  • Reasonable accommodation: if any step here is a barrier, email us and we will provide an equivalent alternative — a phone call instead of a video, a transcript instead of a link.
  • No protected information: do not include your age, date of birth, photo requirements, marital or family status, immigration details beyond work authorization, health information, or salary history. We will not ask, and unsolicited details are disregarded.
  • Minors: applicants under 18 must have a parent or guardian's written consent, and Michigan youth employment rules govern hours; interns under 18 do not work past posted school-night limits.
  • Paid and unpaid work: any role meeting the FLSA employee test is paid at or above the Michigan minimum wage. Unpaid internships are educational, follow the Department of Labor primary-beneficiary test, and never displace paid staff.
  • Campaign finance: volunteer time is not a contribution, and staff are compensated from the campaign committee under Michigan Campaign Finance Act reporting. No in-kind work is accepted from prohibited sources.
  • Nonpartisan office: DPSCD school board is nonpartisan. No party endorsement, party funds, or partisan attacks are produced by this team.
  • District boundary: campaign work is never done on DPSCD time, property, equipment, or accounts.
  • Your data: what you type on this page stays in your browser until you press send, and your application email is used only to evaluate you for these roles. Ask us to delete it at any time.
  • Records: we keep application records for the period required by law and destroy them afterward.
